CUFF 2023
This series of posters is Columbia University Film Festival's 2024 identity. Winner of the Columbia University poster design contest for a fifth year in a row, the concept will be presented on various platforms, from the festival's website and social media to large printed versions during the festival's events in New York and Los Angeles.
The design
Representing different roles in the filmmaking process (camera, directing, writing, sound), the design highlights the craft of filmmaking. In a world in many ways threatened by A.I. intervention, it was important that I focus on people, and the physical, manual labour that make films inherently human.
I wanted the aesthetic to be bold, eye-grabbing, and simple. CUFF celebrates students, and the posters put creators, artists and craftspeople at the center.
CUFF 2023
Cet série d'affiches définit l'identité du Festival de film de l'Université Columbia (CUFF) en 2024. Vainqueur du concours de design de l'université New Yorkaise pour une cinquième année d'affilé, le concept sera décliné en plusieurs formats et présenté sur diverses plateformes, du site web à un affichage en personne lors du festival à New York ainsi qu'à Los Angeles.
Le design
Représentant différents rôles du processus cinématographique (la caméra, la direction, la scénarisation et le son), le design met en valeur l'artisanat du cinéma. Dans une industrie menacée par l'intervention de l'intelligence artificielle, il était important pour moi de mettre de l'avant les gens, et la labeur physique et manuelle qui font du cinéma un art fondamentalement humain.
Je voulais une esthétique accrocheuse, vive et simple. CUFF célèbre les étudiants, et les affiches mettent en valeur ces artistes et artisans.
